If you never read the comments… well, you probably don’t read What Are You Playing either, since half of the dang column is the comments. But you’re also missing out on our regular commenter Schlag, whom we all enjoy immensely. And this week, I get to write a tribute to him because the dude is down there with hand-crafted memetic humor on a remarkably large number of posts. Like, all the time.
We might not like that if not for the fact that he takes the time to hand-make most of them himself, and they are always not just relevant to the conversation but actively amusing. He does this because he enjoys doing it, and it’s absolutely awesome. He’s never disruptive, always upbeat, but always bringing a bit of humor in image format. And that means a lot to us. We recognize that it’s hard to deliver a nice piece of humor in image format, especially while staying on-topic and custom crafting things on a pretty much daily basis.
So here’s to Schlag Sweetleaf, because we like him. And Bree said I could pay him tribute this week, so I did.
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Well, Pokémon Go may actually see a bit less play time this weekend (my local Mystics are probably already noticing my absence this week). There’s a Hearthstone Fireside Gathering at a local convention I want to hit, and I’m hoping to get my hands on a Nintendo Switch and the not-exactly-new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): A little birdie told me I really need to get my butt in gear and finish Guild Wars 2’s living story arc because of reasons. So I’ll probably do that! I’ve also got my Ultima Online account on, so I may check out the new update – still trying to decide whether to sink money into a new character slot or revamp a character into a tamer on my main account, decisions! – and I’ve dipped back into classic Guild Wars as well!
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog):Well, we’ve got a benchmark for Final Fantasy XIV’s next expansion, so I’m even more hype than I was before. Time to get my last prep work done and see if I can’t do a little bit more besides. It’s also high time that I start getting some stuff in order over in Final Fantasy XI, since there’s a 15-year anniversary celebration coming up.
Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): No grand plans other than perhaps digging up one of my old Star Wars: The Old Republic characters for a familiar spin.
Your turn!
