Shroud of the Avatar vastly increases game performance with Release 43

One of the big complaints about Shroud of the Avatar during its lengthy testing process has concerned poor optimization and clunky, laggy gameplay. These issues might start becoming a thing of the past, thanks to today’s Release 43.

“Release 43 contains both a huge amount of new content and a major improvement in performance that will generally improve everything about playing the game (and I do not exaggerate),” wrote the team. “Framerates have been improved in every scene, doubled in some! This really will make playing the game feel so much better in every way.”

The update also adds the huge Blood River Outskirts scene, fleshes out the Path of the Oracle, expands the mail system, and balances the offline economy. The team said that it will be putting out its Q3 2017 roadmap tomorrow for fans.

I’m a fan of Garriott and Long, so I still keep an eye on SotA. I’m hoping to see this get to the point of an official release, I’ll definitely give it a serious try once that happens. Btw listening to MassivelyOP’s Podcast 124 interview with Garriott and Long right now. About half way through, so far it’s an interesting interview with some good questions by Justin.

I logged in again two days ago. Some discord guy did take me to a new area after having me walk through three zones. If I did aggro I wold of died if alone. So no idea how a starting toon would handle it.

Got to that zone and still felt completely lost. Most the discord people while nice are like go watch videos, read orums and so on to learn the basics. And while I do like grinding and such. In some ways it is worse then ffxi.

In ffxi I at least knew the job types, skills able to get as I go, and basic commands. In this game I know nothing, and i don’t see anything, never saw another player outside that discord guy. So would i use a cash shop when I know nothing in the game and cant do anything in game without hours of research? Nope, I move on.

The long, tedious and expensive pre-alpha/alpha/we’re almost in beta/no kidding we want to stay in alpha mentality of the dev team with nothing real to show for it in years has really killed all the enthusiasm I had for this project.

Nothing real too show for it? Apparently you haven’t looked at it in years. It interests me that so many people clamor for MMOs to try new things and not be the same old thing, and then when someone does just that, they get run over for it.

LOL, too much innovation is hardly the reason players hate SotA.

They’re certainly doing a lot more innovation than most of the MMOs out there.

Keep telling yourself that, man. And make sure to blame the players when the game closes up shop.
