sigh, my PC was doing some major updates so I didn’t get to do my daily MassivelyOP stop yesterday morning and missed that this was happening. I wanted to watch it live so bad. Ah well. I can still look through the video to see what it was I was on the lookout for – this is part of the game you’re supposed to be able to see a specific something in but also may not. I wanted to try to get her to find it for us if I was there but maybe she did anyway. I’ll have to go through the video to see. I’m pretty sad I missed it but ah well, can’t do much now.

Okay it was there, what I was looking for.

Obviously if you’re not up to this part in the story and this video would have been spoilers for you, me writing about something in the video will also be spoilers, so you should stop reading here. It’s nothing different than what’s in the video but I’ll make a little marker anyway…

***Spoiler Warning***

So what I was looking for was filth kittens. You can get one as a pet, although it’s only during Halloween or something? I’m not sure as I don’t have one. But this is the part of the game where you’re supposed to see filth kittens. I’m not sure if you can miss them or not, maybe they trigger no matter what way you go. Anyway they are right there lol, I’m sad I missed watching this live but there they are :D At around 16:00 if you want to skip in.

I guess they’re the same as Nermegal, maybe they’re smaller? It’s hard to see because of how dark it is but they seem to have filth tentacles sticking out of them.

I really hope I get the pet this year in SWL. I guess probably everybody will have the chance? I still don’t know much about getting him. I just kept re-doing the same early content in TSW over and over building stuff up and reminding myself of the game so I missed a lot. I’ll be doing it in SWL now but there’s so much I didn’t get and see. I super want Nermegal :D

If the filth gave me a power to spawn a million kittens, maybe I’d be tempted to join them after all.

I’d never noticed the windows before, they look dead cool. But I’ve just played through “Choose Your Own” for the first time, and reckon that’s now a contender with “Vanishing…” for my favourite mission in the game!

Also, Kaidan is so much more fun to play through without the faff of AEGIS :)

I think we hear it confirmed in several places that the Dreamers absorb the minds/souls of those corrupted by the Filth, so it seems like Tyler was corrupted enough for his mind to begin being absorbed by, and copied within, the dream but then his body died before that could also begin to transform. I wonder if all the minds of those corrupted and consumed, and constructed worlds for them to live in, continue to exist forever within the unfathomable vastness of the Dreamers’ dreams… or if it’s a temporary thing (albeit temporary on a potentially cosmic timescale) as part of an eldritch digestive process, or a selective thing for places and people that particularly capture a fragment of the Dreamers’ attention?

I also wonder, given how often our characters get covered in Filth (and the existence of a Corrupted Secret Worlder NPC in Savage Coast possibly implying that even Bees are not completely immune?) if twisted copies of our own character might already exist within the Dreamers’ dreams?

As far as we know, “Corrupted Secret Worlder” just means someone familiar with the ‘secret world’. Could be anyone, not just a Bee.

It was a fairly short expansion (I don’t recall if they sold it for full price or for a reduced rate) and as a player you actually don’t DO much, but it was a good example of how TSW was willing to set aside fairly well-trodden MMO tropes to tell an interesting and engaging story. It was so refreshing in that commercial space, frankly.

That final Tyler Freeborn quest is one of the most original and memorable quests in any MMORPG.

Turns out, inside the fog is a magical land of candy and elves. All frolicking around and singing songs of joy and happiness. All your old pets are there too and they want you to be happy.

Everyone should go.
