Dark Age of Camelot hints at future class/race combos

Dark Age of Camelot has a busy February planned, starting with a new patch that includes a mess of class, RvR, and battleground changes. Broadsword promised “more frequent events” going forward, including a pair of new RvR frontier activities.

Speaking of events, Jack Frost’s Frozen Cavern and the Ghost Keep are both open for business through February 13th. After that date, the game will switch over to swooning with a trio of Valentine’s quests.

The studio also published its first “Grab Bag” Q&A of the year, tackling some of the more nitty-gritty questions that players have about the game’s mechanics. One interesting tidbit from this past week’s grab bag is a hint of future race/class combinations.

“Yes, we are planning to open up a few more pairings when the new race respec feature is in,” Broadsword said. “The recent server and client stability issues have pushed back that feature a bit, but it’s still on track for the first half of this year.”

Must be the starting stages of their huge plan leading up towards their F2P mode later this year.

I really hope it goes well for them, as much as i’m really keen for Camelot Unchained, I also want this to keep doing well too.

I really wish they would improve the controls (especially mouse) and the interface for this game. I played the game for 2-3 years after it came out, and recently went back to give it another go. The controls were sooo awful as was the interface. I was just like, “Nope”.

I didn’t mind the controls too much (expect maybe the camera), but I agree the UI could do with a touch-up for sure.

I enjoyed DAoC from a PvE point of view, but disliked the RvR – hence my disappointment at CU not having meaningful PvE content, especially as I also loved the PvE in WAR although in that case I also liked the PvP albeit in small doses, I could never have just done the PvP.

Have any graphics enhancements been made to DAoC over the years?

If I had all the monies, broadsword would be getting a good chunk of it to give DAoC a new engine up to today’s standards. Holy Happy Holidays Batman if I could play it on a modified and stable version of something like frostbite. I’d die happy. It’s been a few years since I played, I still have 3-4 accounts. Probably should check it out again.
