Mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has recently introduced a number of characters from the acclaimed Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic, and BioWare is joining in on celebrating the legacy of KOTOR by giving all players access to Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan expansions for free. From now until November 2nd at 2:59 a.m. EDT, players can go to SWTOR’s code redemption page and redeem the code “REVANSFATE” to permanently unlock the game’s first two story expansions.

And if you’re a KOTOR fanatic who also happens to play the Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes mobile game, you can now add fan-favorite KOTOR companions Bastila Shan and Jolee Bindo to your team. And if you have Bastila Shan, Jolee Bindo, T3-M4, Mission Vao, and Zaalbar at seven stars, you can also unlock the powerful and unique seven-star hero Jedi Knight Revan. You can check out the full details on how to unlock Revan in Galaxy of Heroes at the game’s official site.

Kind of too little too late. Not to mention you get these for free if you subscribe, so… I wonder who really benefits here unless there are some folks who religiously stay F2P.

This is mostly for people who either haven’t played in the last 3 years or are brand new. SWTOR has the ‘sub once’ mechanic that you get everything that has ever been released prior to the month you subbed for free.

Regarding the F2P setup, it has gotten better than it was when F2P started. F2P used to be nearly unplayable, but now most of the story/non-endgame stuff is better. Spending as little as $5-10 on the game provides a ton of unlocks forever.

There are too many restrictions on the free to play in this game to make want to consider it even if these are expansions are free .

I remember finding the world very static as well the mobs hardly seemed to move at all for the most part .

Wow. Just wow. Oh, that’s it! You’re a WoW baby. I get it now.

You know what they should give free? Fucking action bars… Locking this kinds of features under paywalls it’s just scummy.

If you’ve ever spent anything on the game in its 7 years (as little as $5 on cartel coins or any sub/box/expac) you get 4 bars. That’s more than enough.

If I’m spending enough time playing a game that I need 4 action bars, I can probably give the folks making it 5 bucks.

Unfortunately the code doesn’t work for me either.

SWToR is a terrible f2p game. It’s irrelevant to grab the xpacs and still have several features locked because you’re a f2p.

Good games make you wanna sub, not force you to it.

At least they got rid of weekly passes for 5 Mans and Raids, it’s not too restrictive if you’re Preferred. The money cap is an issue how ever you might be able to just craft what you need or turn alts into savings accounts.

I’ll unlock it of course but I just dropped $50 on GW2 so I figure I better play that first. Does SWTOR even have an endgame any more, I thought the Raids were Zerg fests that didn’t need Tanks anymore?

But then if I want a SciFi MMO I better try Warframe out, does it have any story?

Crap I’m rambling again, I always do that.

Uhm… they got rid of them and you can’t play pvp anymore as preferred. Only 5 matches per week. So it’s worse now, you can’t even use a pass, you need to sub.

They weren’t free in the first place? I guess I got them for subbing.

Yep, most of us were forced to subbed sometime and got them already. I guess this is nice for new players, but the F2P option is just a demo.

The first two way back in the day you had to pay for. Cost ya $20 and then they threw in a month sub time so it was like getting the expac for $5 bucks. It was kinda dumb and kinda awesome at the same time when I was into it.

Hutt Cartel never really grabbed me. Imperial side was great but ultimately kind of a throwaway chapter in the grand scheme of things. Republic side was… ehhhh… and kind of a throwaway chapter in the grand scheme of things.

Shadows of Revan, however, is when things got kicked up a notch.

The code doesn’t work for me – it says “The entered code is invalid. Please verify your card and try again.” I think I already have Rise of the Hutt Cartel from a couple of years ago, so maybe this promotion is only for accounts missing both expansions? Or maybe it’s for active accounts only?

Oh well, thanks for sharing this – I really love when MOP points out a good promotion, especially freebies!
