Darkfall: Rise of Agon details plans for Embers of War expansion and upcoming Territory Control system

Earlier this week, Big Picture Games announced Embers of War, the first expansion for Darkfall: Rise of Agon, and the latest dev blog details what players can expect going forward as the team prepares the expansion for release. The team has learned from its “recent experience on piecemealing in some larger features” that the scope of its plans for the game’s future is “too large to put in small pieces over many patches,” and therefore all the planned features are being grouped together to be released simultaneously as Embers of War. As such, the team will be focusing “virtually all resources” on developing the expansion.

Even though the team’s primary focus is going to be on Embers of War, players can still expect regular patches “on a bi-weekly to monthly basis with a controlled level of scope that will fall under what [the devs] call community patches,” in which players will be able to vote on what gets added in each smaller patch leading up to the expansion. In addition, the planned updates to Platinum and Wilderness Mines are still in the pipeline, but they’re being “folded into a larger Territory Control 1.0 system . . . with regional control through static towers and objectives.” Right now, details on what players can expect from the expansion itself are scarce, but the team plans to give players a look behind the scenes in an upcoming livestream that is tentatively slated for Saturday, November 3rd, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. EDT.
