Star Wars: The Old Republic offers a peek at how the Mercenary class is changing in Onslaught

We all know that things are due to shift in Star Wars: The Old Republic, especially in the face of several class adjustments. But wait, where’s the Mercenary in all of this? Why, it’s right here, in an interview with the devs from the folks at MMO Bits.

According to the devs, the Mercenary’s most balanced subclass — Innovative Ordinance — is right where it should be. That leaves the Arsenal and Bodyguard trees due for potential adjustment, as the devs remarked that Arsenal is a bit too survivable and Bodyguard could use some undisclosed “minor improvements.”

The biggest adjustments to the Mercenary, of course, will be the new Tactical Items and Set Bonuses, a few of which were revealed in the interview. A couple of the new Tactical Items include one that leaves the Explosive Dart dormant on a target until its detonated by Mag Shot for double the damage, and one that spreads a Heat Signature mark on targets hit by Fusion Missile, which then adds additional missiles to the Heatseeker Missiles ability. On the Set Bonus side of things, Mercenaries can look forward to a Chaff Flare that heals all nearby allies and makes Onboard AED instant among others.
