Dual Universe shows off alpha 3’s new industry features and answers numerous player questions

Alpha 3 is on the horizon for Dual Universe, which means the questions and the feature details are still coming. The devs at Novaquark have helped to show off some more of what’s to come in another dev diary video and have taken a large swath of player questions during the latest episode of their Inside Novaquark podcast.

The dev diary video provides a look at a new tool arriving with alpha 3 that lets players gather low tier resources on planetary surfaces. The number of things this tool can be used on will be limited, but it should provide new players a way to get basic resources or a swift way for everyone to get some needed simple materials. As for processing those materials, alpha 3 will introduce a variety of different industrial facilities to process specific types of materials, different assembly unit size variations, several new materials, and a rebalancing of the crafting system itself.

As far as the Inside Novaquark podcast, the devs plucked a bunch of pressing community questions regarding alpha 3 and future updates, touching on things like safe zones and their implementation in alpha 3 and beyond, why the devs are restricting the ability to have moving industry constructs, initial plans for territory protection, and a number of questions about Dual Universe’s voxel system. It’s not a very short podcast, but it also is an informative hour if you can spare the time.
