The Daily Grind: Should double-jump be an MMO standard feature?

Sorry, guy.

I don’t care if it’s not realistic, I love double-jumping. Ever since the days of Metroid, getting that sweet extra air time made me actually enjoy platforming elements. Double-jumping didn’t just allow me to get to spots that were previously inaccessible, they helped to compensate for my frequent bad jumps.

This is why I adored WildStar, which baked double-jumping in as a standard feature and never apologized for it. Even running from point A to B was made more fun for it, because I could entertain myself with a stylish mid-air hop.

Should double-jumping be a standard feature in MMOs — or at least far more common than it is? What games could benefit from it?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
