As we noted last week, things in the world of Aliens: Fireteam Elite aren’t looking good, aren’t looking good, and not just because there are xenomorphs pouring out of the walls and ceilings but because player numbers have plummeted since launch. In a likely response to this development, Cold Iron has put out an update roadmap that outlines new content coming to the co-op shooter between now and the third quarter of next year.
Each update to the game is tied to seasons, with the second season arriving sometime before the end of the year. This upcoming season promises a new game mode, a new feature, four new weapons, five new challenge cards, and new attachments and cosmetics. Each following season promises similar updates, with a new kit due to arrive in the first quarter of 2022, another new game mode coming in the second quarter, and Endeavor Pass DLCs arriving at the start of each season. The devs also promise changes to season length, goals, and game environments, while updates to quality-of-life and other adjustments will continue in-between larger seasonal releases.
More details on each seasonal update will arrive as their release draws closer, but in the meantime players are being invited to the game’s official Discord, where a Q&A session will be held on Friday, October 29th, at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Effectively, the game is very much eager to let players know it’s not dead yet.
