In case you were wondering about the fate of your New World server when Brimstone Sands launches next week, Amazon has released a graphic showing the anticipated server queue situation for the current servers, “valid as of October 10” and “subject to change based on player migration behavior.” In other words, according to to this “heat map,” you’re probably fine on Eridu, Asgard, Lanka, Themicyra, and Aukumea, but everyone else is marked for “medium” or “highest” risk of queues, with 15 servers flagged for lock potential.
Of course, whether you can do anything about this depends entirely on whether you’ve already spent your free server transfer tokens because nowhere in this document does Amazon say it’s handing out a fresh round of freebies for people who’ve already spent theirs moving to avoid queues in the past – which’d mean the company is basically asking you to spend another 15 bucks to avoid this trainwreck. “We suggest players in high population worlds move to other worlds as their world may be impacted by queues,” Amazon’s graphic says. “Plan ahead with friends and company members.”
“Players who created an account from launch until 3:30 PM PST on February 14, 2022 will have at least two free server transfer tokens, unless one or more had previously been used. […] We will continue to monitor world populations and demand to determine whether additional servers should be opened or closed.”
Brimstone Sands launches on October 18th, with the new fresh start servers to follow in November.
