LOTRO and DDO are ‘almost ready’ to debut new forums

The fresh start should be around May 3

Great news for Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online players who are tired of the eye strain of reading the MMO’s antiquated forum, as Standing Stone Games said that it’s “almost ready” to trot out the new and improved forum tech for the official sites.

“This has been a long time coming and we can’t wait for you to check them out,” the devs said. “We are replacing our old, very outdated forums with newer forums that will offer new features and a much improved experience for all users.”

SSG said that around May 3rd, the old forums will change over to the new, with the old still viewable (but with a different URL, meaning that all links to those posts will break). It’s important to note that the new forums will be a completely fresh start with no previous posts ported over.

With that fresh start comes a host of improved features, such as custom avatars, staff trackers, spoiler text hiders, more emoticons, polling, sharing options, and better integration with YouTube, Twitch, and other external sites. Speaking of content creation, SSG is activating a new section of the forums for content creators to post their works.

“We expect a busy couple of days as players initially log into the forums, pick their user names, profile avatars, signatures, and more,” the studio said.
