When you buy the mount speed upgrade in Lord of the Rings Online’s store, it comes with a special skill: Smell the Roses, which basically suppresses the speed boost you just bought as well as all the other riding speed boosts.

Now, I’m always grateful for options, but I have literally never used this skill. And judging on how often I use “walk” features vs. running, I probably never will unless I’m grouping with one of my kids who hasn’t got all the bufferoonis. Back in the day when I was hardcore roleplaying, I would’ve done it, but nowadays? Probably not. We’re not getting any younger here!

So for today’s Daily Grind, tell me about times you’ve stopped to smell the roses – not literally, though, so you herbalists out in the audience can put your hands down. We’re talking about slowing down, using slow-mo mounts, walking, or even using trinkets and tricks to slow down your progression on purpose. How often do you “stop and smell the roses” in MMOs?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
