Last Epoch wrestles with online server issues while handing out bee pets and autumnal wraps to everyone

"Sorry about the servers. Have some bees." -- Eleventh Hour Games

Last Epoch is a multiplayer OARPG, but you’d be forgiven for thinking that’s not the case considering the multitude of server issues that have plagued the game since making its move to a fully launched title. Even so, Eleventh Hour Games appears to be extremely communicative and hopes to make players feel better with bees.

Looking over an ongoing server status thread, we see that the past two days were beleaguered by problems that kept online multiplayer from working as well as other issues related to zone transitions, matchmaking API, and login. The latest post in the thread from early this morning promises multiple updates and deployments planned for today. Players are also being instructed on how to play Last Epoch offline.

In the meantime, the studio is hoping to smooth things over by handing out an autumnal wrap cosmetic as well as the three bee pets that were originally part of a refer-a-friend campaign for everyone who purchased the game. It looks as if the back cosmetic can be claimed now, but the free bees will be handed out at a later time once backend services are stable.

The gift of bees and communication doesn’t appear to be quelling too much Steam user rage, as the game’s page on the platform sits at a “Mixed” user score aggregate with grumpy gamers calling out online connectivity issues. As for player numbers, those currently have hit over 191K, which probably isn’t making server issues any easier to deal with.
