Starship Simulator’s Kickstarter unlocks VR, planetary landing, and alien structure stretch goals

The Kickstarter campaign for multiplayer internet spaceship sim Starship Simulator doesn’t appear to be slowing down. As of the time of this writing, crowdfunding has surged past the $380K mark, which means that the developers at Fleetyard Studios are now looking ahead to stretch goals.

The first three planned features on the list have already been unlocked. Those include native room-scale VR support with the help of a dedicated VR developer, the ability to fly shuttles to land on and explore procedurally generated derelict alien space stations, and landings on planetary surfaces that offer seamless exploration. The next stretch goal on the list is a standalone ship vs. ship mode, which is unlocked at £380K or around $483K.

So far the game’s campaign has 10 days to go before it closes, so time will tell if more backers rally to what this game is pitching. In the meantime, a playable demo is on Steam, which we streamed a peek of last week; that embed awaits below if you’re curious.
