Wayfinder sales are temporarily halted as Airship Syndicate assumes publishing from Digital Extremes

Sure, all right.

No, you aren’t reading that headline incorrectly: Even though it was announced months ago that Wayfinder was being dropped by Digital Extremes, the studio behind the game, Airship Syndicate, announced today that a final agreement has been reached to change the publisher on digital storefronts. That means that duties will be shifted on Steam and the PlayStation Store, and over the next couple of weeks the game will be unavailable for purchase on these storefronts.

While that certainly sounds ominous, the announcement is quick to confirm that existing owners will be able to play normally during this time. It’s also quick to restate that Wayfinder is not going anywhere, something restated further down in the replies. However, some changes are en route to the game’s business model, though details are not included; the studio says only that they’ll be announced soon and supposedly done with an eye toward existing founders as well as incoming players and continued viability. So the times, they are a-changin’ along with that publisher of record.
