Embers Adrift opens in-game mail service, adds map improvements and a new fast travel feature

Can you believe that the digital citizens of Embers Adrift have been living without a postal service for this long? How are they expected to enter sweepstakes, get the menus of newly opened restaurants, or be told about amazing sale offers they didn’t ask for? Luckily for everyone, the MMORPG’s latest patch has introduced an in-game mail system that will likely make life for player characters and NPCs alike just swell.

This mail system works pretty similarly to those found in other MMORPGs, though there are some noteworthy restrictions like six attachment slots that are only available for subscribers (while non-subscribers are allowed just one), the inability for players to send letters to themselves, and no option to send mail to alts on the same account. The entire mail system is also not available to trial players whatsoever. Otherwise the mail system works as expected while also marking a first step toward an in-game auction house.

The patch has also added several quality-of-life features to the in-game map, including a wider world map function, zoom features, and the ability to travel from monolith to monolith from the map itself (as opposed to a separate drop-down menu).

On the subject of fast travel, the patch has also introduced a new travel-specific currency called travel essence, which can be purchased at an NPC in the Academy. There are some conversion rates and costs associated with the whole system, so players will probably want to read up on those details as well as others in the full patch notes.
