It’s been a slightly bumpy road between initial announcement and early access release — including a flirtation with NFTs and several delays — but Abyss is finally here.
The indie PvP MMO, which initially was designed to be a MOBA, if you can believe it, formally opened up into early access on May 16th after two and a half years of development and testing. It will cost you $25 to buy a copy as the title works toward its goal of a release within a year.
Old World Labs did note that players won’t be experiencing a massive world with this initial rollout: “The early access version of Abyss features a small open world with a town, gathering, crafting, open-world building mechanics, player-to-player trading, and some initial mobs camps in a basic starter zone. PvP is available in the open world with full loot mechanics.”
