Riot team shooter Valorant blasts its way onto console (but without crossplay)

Riot Games’ team shooter doesn’t have any plans to fade away soon. In fact, Valorant is expanding its reach thanks to this week’s console launch on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This makes the first time that Riot’s had a live service console title, so that’s a notable piece of company history in the making right there.

Valorant is now available to play on these platforms in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil. However — and we know it’s your next question — the shooter isn’t using crossplay with PC, due to the title’s renowned standard for competitive integrity.” That’s a fancy way of saying “mouse-and-keyboard isn’t like a controller.”

All versions are also getting a patch with “new agents, maps, premium content, and additional live service features.”
