Elder Scrolls Online is giving away cosmetics and more in its 70K-hour community playtime challenge

We wouldn’t normally cover an MMORPG promotion with a third party, but in the case of Elder Scrolls Online and Alienware, the promo includes an event with free stuff that our readers might want to get in on – and all you have to do is go play the game.

“During the next phase of this ongoing promotion, you and your fellow Steam players can obtain the Grim Harvester costume and ×3 Grand Gold Coast Experience Scrolls by collectively playing 70,000 hours of ESO from now until Monday, August 12,” ZeniMax Online Studios says.

OK, you have to do a little bit more than play; according to ZOS’s instructions, you also have to connect your Steam and Alienware accounts and set your profile’s game details to public so that your playtime in ESO can actually be counted in that 70K. Granted, you don’t actually have to do it all, which would be impossible, but the ESO community has a pretty good track record with meeting these challenges, so that costume is a likely score – plus it’ll give you something to do before U43 launches on August 19th.
