The Daily Grind: Which MMOs make you feel sad?

I didn’t talk about this much because it’s an online ARPG rather than an MMO, but last winter, I spent a crapton of time playing Minecraft Dungeons with my son. And I freaking loved it. It’s especially funny for me since I have snubbed Minecraft in the past, but Dungeons hit that sweet spot on the simplicity spectrum. It’s got just enough to keep me clicking but not so much that I need to log out and read a wiki to stay alive. Plus it worked great on the Switch in multiplayer!

But now it has one big downside: It’s basically in maintenance mode. Microsoft’s teams aren’t working on it anymore, which is a huge shame because it got several seasons of new content and now it’s all just sitting there. I can’t bring myself to delete it because I had so much fun, but playing it also makes me feel sad, so it just stays in limbo.

Which MMOs make you feel sad? And why?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
