Followers of the Thargoid War in Elite: Dangerous likely already assumed some form of counterattack from the alien force was coming, particularly in the face of the slow but steady destruction of Titans, and this week the enemy force has shown its hand and sent an invasion fleet into Shinrarta Dezhra, one of the game’s most important star systems.
Allow us to contextualize the enormity of this attack: Shinrarta Dezhra is the home of the Pilots Federation, aka the in-game group that grants players the ability to be commanders of starships. This system houses a station that sells every single ship and module in the game at a 10% discount, and permission to land anywhere in the system requires players to earn elite rank in at least one activity in the game – a process that can take some significant grinding depending on what they’re doing.
As a result of the invasion, the restriction to access Shinrarta Dezhra has been temporarily lifted, and Frontier has engageda new weekly community goal that tasks players with turning in Thargoid combat bonds at a nearby rescue ship. Those who participate are eligible to receive cumulative rewards including pre-engineered anti-xeno weapons and a special heatsink launcher.
In other E:D news, a small fixer-upper patch went out today that mostly fixates on some adjustments for the Type-8 ship and a bug related to planetary orbit lines.
