Diablo IV’s Vessel of Hatred live action trailer features Camila Cabello covering The Who

Remember the excerpt from Jason Schreier’s new book on Blizzard that mentions the Activision-installed executives who allegedly questioned the wisdom of keeping around “nondevelopment departments” like cinematics teams? Well, cooler heads with marketing savvy prevailed, clearly, as we’re getting a big juicy trailer from the video team working on Blizzard’s Diablo IV ahead of the launch of Vessel of Hatred next week.

You’ll not be surprised when I say the live-action trailer is creepy. “You are destined to defy Hatred,” the studio says. “Become Spiritborn and unleash the power of the Spirit Guardians to banish corruption from the jungles of Nahantu.”

The weirdest bit of this whole trailer rollout is the apparent fan rage over the soundtrack of all things – especially the people in the comments saying Blizzard’s music choice here (a Camila Cabello cover of The Who’s 1971 hit Behind Blue Eyes) is an encapsulation of the Hello Fellow Kids meme. I give up y’all.
