At this point, hearing that new vehicles are being added to War Thunder isn’t exactly news; it’s just what kinds of vehicles that likely matters to fans. So those fans learning that a stealth aircraft is on the way to the game next month may just perk up their ears.
The Firebirds update is headlined by the arrival of the US F-117A Nighthawk, a single-seat fighter that introduces some stealth mechanics to the vehicle battler’s aerial combat. As in real life, the Nighthawk doesn’t turn invisible to human eyes, but it does have significantly reduced IR and radar signatures that makes it very challenging to target – but not impossible. Players will also need to remember that the aircraft has no countermeasures or air-to-air weapons whatsoever; it’s all about unleashing a bombing payload and getting back to base without anyone retaliating.
Several other vehicles will be arriving in the update as well, such as the Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber, the American F-15E Strike Eagle strike fighter jet, the British FV107 Scimitar light tank, and the French battleship Dunkerque. The update is scheduled to arrive in early November.
