The Daily Grind: Which MMO has the worst RNG?

That's not so random.

Before you get deep in the weeds talking about whether or not random numbers generated on computers are truly random or not, let’s just accept that doesn’t matter. MMOs of all stripes have random numbers, from critical hits to drop rates to even what enemies spawn. We all know and accept that some sort of RNG is used because randomness is at least equally unfair at all times, so sometimes you get a really good string of luck, sometimes you get a really bad string of luck, but it’s all luck and all out of your control.

Yet sometimes it feels bad. We know that randomness isn’t preferential, but some games just feel biased against you. Maybe it’s a collision of too many random chances all colliding. Maybe it’s randomness that isn’t fun or can make your life just much harder than you need. Maybe it’s just a matter of feeling like the penalties for bad randomness aren’t balanced by rewards for good randomness. For whatever reason, which MMO do you feel has the worst RNG?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
