So it is not exactly a secret that I like Warframe a lot, and thus you are probably aware that I am entirely on-board for the content in the game’s latest patch. Yet this particular patch has a problem for me because it leans into an aesthetic that I just do not vibe with. I think the Infested look is definitely distinct and cool, but I do not want my arsenal to look like that! It sparks less joy than perhaps it ought to. Sorry!
Now, for the people who do love the look of the Infestation and the Techrot in particular, this is really great. I think one of the great aspects of this game – and any MMO, really – is that it has aesthetics that can appeal to a variety of people instead of just me. But it does get me thinking. When has your favorite MMO had the least appealing aesthetic patch? Not necessarily that the content is bad, but just that the characters and visuals are the exact opposite of what you want to be looking at?
