You might have forgotten that the medieval sandbox MMORPG Life is Feudal got a second lease on life (get it?) with the release of Life is Feudal: Arden, a free-to-play version of LIF MMO from publisher Long Tale Games. Though it’s really more like a third lease on life; LTG had attempted to bring back the original sandbox, which was sunsetted by original studio Bitbox in 2021, as a sub-only game but then released Arden as the free-to-play alternative featuring a new map and some streamlined gameplay.
It would appear as if Arden is continuing to chug along, and its most recent update brings a whole new season-based content model to the game. This brings an all-new map that runs parallel to the regular sandbox where every player starts on even footing at the start of each season, with each season moving through five different phases that modify the game and unlock new systems and recipes over the course of its run of 37 weeks.
Unfortunately, the massive update has landed with a bit of a dull thud, as the non-seasonal world is experiencing some instability and has its access locked to teams only. Work on fixing the non-seasonal portion of the MMO is ongoing, with a new patch scheduled for this week.
