Lawsuits can be pretty long, but this one was a doozy. Let’s review: In 2015, several ArcheAge players filed a class action lawsuit over an offered 10% discount for cash shop items for those who bought founder’s packs for the game. That lawsuit got tangled up in arbitration, with only at least one minor update until Trion Worlds dissolved in October of 2018, dumping the company’s games and assets to Gamigo and one of its subsidiaries, which incidentally further snarled up the proceedings.
The last word we got from the whole ordeal was in June of this year, when recent documents sought to consider bringing Gamigo into the mire. Today, the process has apparently gone on long enough as both parties are nearing a settlement agreement.
Specifics of the amount to be paid to the plaintiffs has not been disclosed as the terms have not been documented. However, the filing notes that settlement will come from Navigators Insurance Company, which was the insurance company used by Trion Worlds. This also absolves Trion from any liability associated with the suit.
“Plaintiffs and Navigators Insurance Company, the insurer for the officers and directors of Defendant Trion Worlds, Inc., have reached an agreement in principle to settle this case on class wide basis. The proposed settlement will provide for notice to the class members of the proposed settlement, payments to members of the proposed settlement class who file claims, and will release Defendant Trion Worlds, Inc. from liability for the claims asserted in this action. The parties are working to document all of the terms of the settlement.”
