Dauntless lands on the Switch today with the Stormchasers update for everyone

If you had told me when Phoenix Labs first announced Dauntless three years ago that it was eventually going to be one of the industry’s runaway hits, I’m not sure I’d have believed you. In fact, once it seemed to be going head to head with the likes of Monster Hunter, I thought it was toast. But nope! It’s only continued its wild expansion in players – it’s up to 15M of them now – and platforms. And today, it adds to both, as it’s just expanded into Japan with fresh localization and released globally on the Nintendo Switch, along with the Stormchasers update for everyone.

“Dauntless on Nintendo Switch features full One Dauntless cross-platform support, allowing Switch owners to hunt Behemoths with friends on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and enables cross-progression across all devices. Today also marks Dauntless’ debut in Japan on all available platforms, featuring full localization with subtitle and character support.”

Stormchasers is on track to be the game’s biggest freebie content dump in its history. “Stormchasers includes the challenging new gameplay experience Escalation, a new type of sequential hunt that features dual Behemoth encounters in addition to a number of elements of the roguelike genre,” Phoenix Labs writes. “Escalation, challenges Slayers to best waves of Behemoths imbued with unique modifiers, presenting some of the most challenging battles Slayers have come to face yet. Escalation offers procedurally-generated Behemoth encounters, ensuring that no run feels the same. Slayers can choose from a variety of Amps that offer a range of defensive and offensive boosts following each successful encounter, and unlock more using talent points earned through Escalation runs.”

Happy Switch day, folks!
