Ankama has dropped dueling roadmaps for its turn-based MMORPG Wakfu and card-based MMO Waven this week.
Let’s start with Waven, which actually just launched what Ankama is calling the Whisperer season, which adds new free heroes in collaboration with manga artist Tony Valente. But looking forward into 2024, we see plenty more on deck, including new seasons (one drawing inspiration from Wakfu), a new title and ornament system, the Sacrier class and its five heroes, heroic quests, and the second book for story mode. The team is also investigation asynchronous mode, guild systems, and prestige levels – but no promises yet.
Meanwhile, the Wakfu team is talking up the class reworks and new single-account servers it opened in 2023; the year ahead will include balance work on Sadidas and Enutrofs, improved HD environments, more content for Wabbit Island, UI changes, the Stele revamp, and server merges. Finally, yes, you’re getting a new expansion: “We’re preparing a content expansion that will come out at the end of the year as usual,” Ankama says. “And this expansion will be special on multiple levels… We’re so excited to show you what it’ll look like. It will be one of the most memorable in the game’s history!”
