We’re not trying to be facetious when it comes to writing headlines for Shroud of the Avatar, but when the update notes for Release 127 lead off with encouraging funny money sales by offering a birthday axe, it’s kind of hard not to focus on that sort of thing first and foremost.
Since SOTA has Richard Garriott’s name associated with it, that means the devs at Catnip Games will be marking his birthday with both a special four-hour livestream and a unique Brutal Battle-Axe weapon. The stream promises a look back at prior releases, details on what’s next, and a Q&A, while the axe can either be displayed on a wall or wielded in battle to engage “some special properties.”
It should be noted that this limited axe is only handed out to those who purchase a pack of 10K COTOs, which is normally $100 but is currently on sale for $80, so if you’ve got that much money burning a hole in your pocket, perhaps you have an option on which direction to fling it at.
As for R127, that’s about horse spawners, specifically moving the sale of them to pet vendors, along with a wide assortment of fixes and updates to quests, icons, items, and player-owned dungeons. It’s even possible that said dungeon is a perfect place for your extremely rare $80 battle-axe.
