Roblox’s Beetlejuice transmedia synergy merges a minigame with a movie ticket vendor

So I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I’m not going to be able to resist saying Beetlejuice three times in this story, and the criminally underrated Michael Keaton is going to pop out and insult us. The bad news is that the franchise is doing a dreadful crossover with Roblox in a bid to make itself relevant with the kids whose parents still inexplicably let them play a game that is actively exploiting child labor.

The Roblox minigame is called Beetlejuice: Escape the Afterlife and invites players to “team up to help save Adtrid, Lydia, and Delia escape the afterlife.” According to the PR published, it’s not just a typical promotional game; it’s also a platform for selling tickets to the upcoming movie because of course it is.

“We are always looking to engage audiences and amplify our reach in new and exciting ways; this first-of-its-kind collaboration with Roblox and Fandango for Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice allows for just that. By leveraging the vast Roblox creator community, we are not only able to connect with existing Beetlejuice fans, but also have the opportunity to reach new audiences who are being introduced to him for the first time. And we are thrilled to be the first studio to test ticketing on the platform.”

Ah crap, that was three. Four, actually. Sorry. Well, hopefully the movie is good. It does have Keaton, after all.
