Standing Stone Games put a few Rohirrim store bundles together for Lord of the Rings Online, and the two more expensive variants contain the shaggiest herding dog this side of the Great River. Sure, there are also a number of Rohirrim-themed cosmetics, a mount, and a new milestone animation, but c’mon. It’s all about the dog and we know it.
The studio also put out a call for players to apply to become volunteer moderators for the upcoming official LOTRO Discord server. “We are required by law to not provide formal compensation for your volunteer service, but you will be helping to make an official Discord happen, you’ll have direct communication with us, and we’ll do our best to conduct periodic random giveaways for codes for volunteers,” the studio said.
Some players have voiced logical concerns over the potential for abuse in this situation, but SSG’s community manager said that he isn’t worried: “I’m not surprised to read some of the concerns about how the Discord could potentially go, but we’ll be working to make it a pleasant place. I had many of the same apprehensions before opening the DDO Discord but things have worked out exceptionally well over there, and I’m expecting LOTRO’s to go similar.”
