What do chinchillas, bunnies, chickens, and Soulframe have to do with each other? They were all brought together for the game’s latest dev stream where developers attempted to talk about changes to the current Preludes 9 pre-alpha and the upcoming Preludes 10 pre-alpha build updates while being distracted by multiple soft animals. It was definitely an idea that someone had and someone else approved.
The devs go over current updates to the ongoing pre-alpha, which includes new factions, three new pacts that effectively work as a class selection, repeatable content in the form of faction tales, the world tree mechanics, and some new enemies – basically all of the things Digital Extremes talked about previously.
In terms of Preludes 10, that will focus on adding runes and motes, which were supposed to arrive for the current pre-alpha but needed some more time to develop; an emphasis on simplifying combat controls to avoid “finger gymnastics”; the introduction of secondary weapons including a wizard staff for caster characters; new armor and damage types; new enemies to fight; and some refinement to the existing faction tales. The devs also announced that another 9,000 invites to pre-alpha were sent out, so perhaps check your inbox while Digital Extremes gets repeatedly derailed by critters in the video below.
