Lord of the Rings Online deploys Update 48: A Glorious Hunt – without Rivendell housing

It is a time for celebration, homemaking, and exploration in Lord of the Rings Online. Update 48: A Glorious Hunt arrives in the game today, and with it an array of spring content offerings.

The patch kicks off with a new high-level questing region, Hatokáli Fells, which is meant to put a cap on the three-expansion Umbar adventure. The quest pack will be divvied up and time-gated: “The first set of quests is available with launch, and the second set of quests unlocks on Wednesday May 6th at 10am EDT. The final quests in the story unlock on May 20th.”

Update 48 also adds a new embers-for-virtue XP weekly quest, upgrades several reusable items into baubles, and brings back the Anniversary Event (starting Thursday) with a 19th year giftbox, four new missions, and additional rewards (pets and decor, mostly) added to the vendor.

The bad news is that as we noted yesterday, SSG made the call to delay the new Rivendell premium housing neighborhood by a week: “We are adjusting the opening date for Rivendell Steadings by one week to address an issue discovered ahead of the deployment of Update 48. Rivendell Steadings will now open at Noon Eastern (-4 GMT) on Thursday, April 30th. We apologize for the delay.”

Wheee
Yeah not going well.
