As Pokemon Go continues its rollout across the world, you might be wondering why it’s not in Japan yet. It’s because Japan is even more Pokemon-crazed than we are and would break the servers, basically. Here’s what else is happening with the MMOARG:
- A Niantic developer has said he’d love to see Pokemon Go adapted for the Game of Thrones world.
- Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum is offering huge cash prizes for capturing rare Pokemon.
- Against Niantic’s advice, players are trying to sell their leveled-up accounts with rare critters capped; Polygon reports one at $175, which is peanuts to MMO players who remember the old days of account selling, but it’s still pretty fast.
- Among the mishaps that befell Pokemon Go players recently are falling off a cliff, getting stuck in caves, and getting shot at by someone who thought they were thieves – that last one in Florida.
- On the other hand, other people are donating their Pokemon time to walking shelter dogs. D’awww.
- On the other other hand, a dude in Texas was arrested for threatening to “purge” all the Pokemon-playing pedestrians in his town with modified paintball guns. (But at least he didn’t shoot anyone’s tires out?)
- If you’re too lazy to actually modify your paintball gun to harass people having gun, you could always join the e-thugs who claim they took down the servers Saturday and have threatened more downtime.
- But maybe you just want to make it easy on the cops; you could always hunt Pokemon in the Michigan police station where you are then arrested because of an outstanding warrant.
- Consumer Reports’ Consumerist blog has published a guide for how to opt-out of waiving your legal rights when you play Pokemon Go. If you aren’t opting out, you are effectively agreeing to a private arbitration clause, which is gross. So opt out.
- T-Mobile is running a promotion that includes free ice cream and unlimited data for Pokemon Go.
- Pokemon Go players now hold Central Park in New York city. Not really but kinda.
