World of Warcraft starts testing Argus and Patch 7.3

While the World of Warcraft raiding community soldiers on through the new Tomb of Sargeras and everyone else curses their luck at legendary item drops, Blizzard has activated Patch 7.3 on the test server.

This is a capital-B Big Deal for the game, as 7.3 is destined to take players to the world of Argus for the very first time. The studio said that players will use a ship called the Vindicaar as their new headquarters to stage a counter-invasion into Legion-held territory. Argus will eventually offer three zones to players, although only the first one is on the test server. The planet will be a no-fly zone and will apparently feature a lot of story.

“Most (but not all) of the new stuff in 7.3 takes place on Argus,” Blizzard posted, “and as you might expect, this is hostile territory. Demons patrol every crag of Argus’s shattered surface, and sometimes it seems as if the planet itself is out to get you. This will be a very story-driven update, but we’re also designing areas with sandbox elements intended to be enjoyed even after you complete the main quest, with gameplay and challenges on the planet’s surface reminiscent of past endgame areas such as the Molten Front, the Isle of Thunder, and the Timeless Isle.”

Patch 7.3 is also going to include more world quests, an additional dungeon (Seat of the Triumvirate), a new raid (Antorus, the Burning Throne), replayable invasion points, more world quests, profession updates, a new way to customize artifact relics, and new casting animations for Priests, Druids, Shamans, and Mages.

So for a casual player who does not raid: more world quests, more invasions, no flying

And a new story that i suppose it will be again 1 quest per week for x weeks because we need subs and we know world quests and invasions are already got boring..

Erm.. Why is Argus ABOVE Azaroth?

It took the Legion how long to get here? and now the home world is next door?

*Throws lore books in the bin* Whelp Blizzard have done the same

Ok i gotta say that’s a whole lot of content for a free patch. 3 zones, brand new planet, crapton of lore. I might resub just for that.

Blizzard really don’t like flying, do they? Ever since they introduced it in TBC, they’ve gone out of their way to make it a long and arduous process to get. Attunements on top of attunements and then entire zones with no flying. If they could get away with it, I think they’d remove flying from the game altogether.

They should take a que from ffxiv where to unlock flying per zone you do the zone story quess. A few side quests and attune to in that games terms “Aether currents” so in wow attune to let lines or wind currents(which you use an item to track down so have seen alot of said zones)

Make it account bound for WoW and I suspect the issue would be solved.buut blizz LOVES taking the hard way or so I have noticed

No, they hate flying with an undying passion. They wish they had never put it in the game, and they wish they could remove it altogether, but can’t, because it has been in the game for so long and they’ve sold mounts for it for so long that doing so would be more headache than it is worth.

But apparently, you can’t actually blame Blizzard for this, for some reason.

World of Warcraft now has f-ing spaceshitps…

I’m glad I’m sticking to Vanilla on Elysium, the only real WoW – it’s completely free, better and compared to playing retail doesn’t cost you money and IQ points.

You obviously have no clue about WoW’s lore. Spaceships were part of lore since forever. In TBC whole starting zone of draenei is around crashed space ship

But they doesn’t play any role and that was good. Now it’s stupid starcraft (looking at Argus vids). What a mish-mash…

I forgot about that, but for me WoW start and ends in Vanilla and there is no such mumbo jumbo.

But that’s beside the point. What I have in mind is that it will probably open up a possibility for some spaceship battles in the future and that’s where you know that WoW as a Fantasy RPG went completely down the drain.

Warcraft was always steampunk/high fantasy and never was a classic fantasy world.

Warcraft was never a ‘strict Medieval’ Fantasy series. You already had steampunk elements since what? Wc2? With the goblin and gnome units having high tech inventions because y’know, Submarine, tanker, airship battles are perfectly normal.

I guess Star Wars starts and ends for you with Episode IV then?

You won’t even live long enough to comprehend how wrong you are about that. xD

So just going to ignore the mech suits in Warcraft 3 then ?

Seems like the first really big update for the game since 7.1 as well as 7.2 were more or less a downer contentwhise. I’m very excited for this one tho ^.^

First time I think I ever heard of World of Warcraft having “sandbox” elements called out right. Are they learning?

I wouldn’t be supersized if they mean something totally different from what people here think of a sandbox, but who knows? wait and see.

Reader

I think when Blizz say “sandbox elements”, they mean GW2-style open world activities that are not tied to a quest. Especially since they already mentioned Timeless Isle as a model.

So spellcasters are finally getting those promised animations that cast the spells without putting the Artifact weapon away… the patch before they put their Artifact weapons away for good.

unless you’re a warlock.

I’m not sure why you think these animations will only be attached to the artifacts. They are animations attached to models not the items.

Well, it’s the final patch for this expansion, so judging from past content droughts players will have an entire year or more to enjoy this change before the next expansion is released. :p

3 new zones though, perhaps they will try to stretch out the content over 6-9 months or something and push out a new expac a bit earlier than usual.

Seems to me they have made a major effort to address past problems this expansion. Also 4 raid tiers perhaps 4.5 is you count ToV. I’m not sure if they have ever had such an aggressive content rollout.

There may be a drought I just suspect that it will not be as significant as in the past.

For sure. This patch isnt final
