Secret World Legends has launched Tokyo part II Beyond the Wall

Secret World Legends fans, Funcom’s just pushed a new free update out to you: Tokyo: Beyond the Wall, better known as Tokyo part II. The highlights for core players include the Fear Nothing Foundation content, a new emote UI, and the mission item inventory.

“Today, Funcom has launched Tokyo: Beyond the Wall, moving the story into an even more bizarre and frightening direction. In Secret World Legends, the city of Tokyo has been utterly devastated and large parts of it are under quarantine. In Tokyo: Beyond the Wall players must go even deeper into the apocalyptic city in search of answers. In this second Tokyo update, players will be able to explore vast new areas of the city. From the Kaidan Docks where something strange now creeps out from a derelict freighter, to the neon-bathed ‘Dream Hotel’ in downtown Tokyo which holds unimaginable secrets.”

Part III is still expected to launch “later this year.” The trailer is tucked down below!

I think for the first time in any mmo I’m so swamped with dedicated groups i roll with, between running Elites 3 to 5 over and over , lairs, regional, nyr… That i hardly have any time to enjoy the story content lol.

Ever since i started playing mmo’s, questing has been the most integral portion of activities I’ve done outside my more hardcore Eq2 days, but even then it was a good 60/40 mix, here, soon as i log in i’m grouped up till i log out, and… I F’in love it.

Sunday night seems like my only content night, and even then I’ll usually duo or group up with peeps from the cabal, not that it’s necessary just makes it even more enjoyable.

Two words; “I’m Home!” After a decade of wondering from mmo to mmo, which right there is a huge sign there is an mmo genre problem in general, finally one comes along.

I know that SWL is only TSW done right, i only wish they had done this 5 years ago, instead of sitting on TSW alpha version of SWL for 5 years, lol. On the bright side, this entire game is 90% new to me even though it’s old content for TSW vets, glad i always gave up at Blue Mountain now.

You know, I do respect that. I’m honestly happy that you’ve found a home. :) You know all my opinions, frustrations etc about Funcom, TSW/SWL so I won’t rehash that. I’m just very happy there are many who have found an mmorpg home.

Let’s hope that they continue on this path that they’re currently on and also do release truly new content starting next year. I’m rooting for that for you and others who are loving SWL.

Hey Thanks.

I think the first thing which needs to take place is you really click with the game, your love and interest is very high.

If that has happened then you naturally start to meet peeps whom also love the game as much as you do too, you bond with these people to a degree…

and that’s when it becomes a home.

Playing it again and enjoying it again have finally got past Transylvania after I gave up because I found it too easy after the streamlining/dumbing down they did a few years ago . The balance seems better now but maybe that is because I haven’t concentrated on getting half decent gear before entering Transylvania this time around .

Looking forward to the African content .

Glad that they’re rolling out all the Tokyo content pretty quickly, even if it all just needs a pass to make sure it’s functional with the changes to SWL.

Just got to Carpathian Fangs, shouldn’t be much longer until I’m back into Tokyo and can finally get to work on finishing the zone. Yay.

I’ll agree on that. It might not be new content, but it’s at least rolling out that last of the old content and making sure it works with changes to SWL. I count that as a good thing, the quicker that they can get that all finished up, QC’d etc the faster they’ll be able to get to true new content.

The drops from the container mobs seem generous. Every kind of item xp destillates (comparable to Elite 1-3 depending on the key quality), clothing, shards, gadgets. I except some whale whine threads on Reddit about how easy the game has become in the next few hours.

I’m increasingly convinced that the 10 Elite levels is just a progression gap before condensing the levels to 3 anyway (with ‘Elite 1’ or whatever it’ll be called, being increasingly soloable over time and newer content).

Do you have to play through all the games original zones and story to play the Tokyo content?

Reader

You need to have advanced through the main story, which requires at least to reach Lv 50 over time, and assorted other activities to reach those levels since you don’t get it through main story alone.

You need to play through the whole story mission to get into Kaidan at all. You don’t need to 100% the prior zones, though. You should hit level 50 well before the end of the City of the Sun God story even if you’re just playing casually.

thx for the info.

A bit disheartening for me. Im level 50, but still in Egypt, which im hating. Not sure I can motivate myself to push through the rest of the original content, to get to the newer more interesting stuff.

So that’s roughly a month between major content drops so far, which means we should look forward to Orochi Tower just before Halloween. I wonder if the Halloween storyline will tie in somehow.

The question, as ever, is when we start to see 100% original content. I’m going to guess December at the earliest, if not January, but I’m sure Funcom has some stuff planned that they can drop in November to keep things flowing until then.

They still slate Orochi Tower (etc) to be September. Possibility of it to release next week. Or early October instead of late.

Oct-Dec for at least Agent system and Dark Agartha. Jan+ for future main story/zone.

Content (as in main story) is certainly not happening monthly. However, the hopes (that I’ll never buy into without evidence) is that they happen somewhat regularly every 1-2 months has some sort of improvements (like the recent Emotes window and Mission Items bag).

I think it’s highly unlikely that major content drops will be monthly beyond oh, the next month or two. The game isn’t that different to how it was previously, and before long the numbers will be down, the revenue peak will have passed, and development work will slow down again. Remember, we’re still anticipating previous content, new content is a way off.

I predict a severe case of “DejaVu” in respect of this version of the game. Not through any dislike of Funcom, I have a lot of time for them, but ultimately those who loved the game before will stick with it as before, and those who didn’t, won’t. If it wasn’t viable before, then given a few months grace it won’t be viable again.

Personally I’ve got bored at pretty much the same point as before, and for much the same reason – the combat is very slightly different but not significantly better. Indeed, I preferred it as it was. The story is great as always, but in all honesty how many MMO players stick around because of a story? All existing fans of the game know the story, but to hold new fans the game needs more than just the story and the rest of the game remains indifferent notwithstanding some pretty inconsequential changes.

Yeah, I’ve stuck with SWL more than I did TSW but am finding it difficult to come up with any long term goals in the game other than near-endless grind for better gear stats.

I didn’t stick with it before and am most certainly sticking with it now. If you only do story content and blast through it, then yes i see where you are coming from.

However if you click with the Elite runs and mastering them, there’s no turning back, you’re here to stay.

My money’s on it being after new years or in March/Spring before true new content.
