Nice to have TSW streams back, it was one of the things that got me into the game

Thanks MJ for getting me to re-download the game. I am not even close to being a horror fan, but the storytelling in this game is top notch. Let’s see how long i last…

This game is would be great for me with some bug fixes.

I re-installed after watching some last night and messed around for an hour to remember how combat worked.  Then I grabbed a nearby quest and it was bugged. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what to do -which was to relog to get the quest to advance to the next step. Later on wherever there was a light change I was getting some strange screen flashing.

Tip for anyone else installing: setting the resolution in the in-game settings would not actually change it.  I had to log out and then set the res in the options of the launcher as well before it would take.

Hmmm, so maybe it’s more of a DX11 thing for some cards, regardless of manufacturer? Sorry you had to endure that.

My sincere sympathies. I’m running an Radeon HD 5800 (the original, uprated version) in Direct X 11, and see none of the issues you describe, if that helps as a data point. Perhaps it’s something which only afflicts the cards newer than my own?
In any event, I hope you get it sorted. If I see anything about a fix for this issue, I’ll do my best to remember to link it back here.
Best of luck,

One of my least fun pick-up-group experiences was in The Secret World — but it has a happy ending.
We were a bunch of semi-noobs (it was the first major “dungeon” of the game), and we were stuck for a final group member.
Finally, we got Over-Levelled Guy to join and help us.
Problem was OLG was also the dreaded Guy Who Knows Everything ™ and he quickly got all bent out of shape at all these semi-noobs who weren’t tactical genii like himself (for the record, we told him we were semi-noobs when he came in).
So, our pug kept wiping and wiping, and we kept reassuring each other, talking strategy and tactics, and going again. But GWKE was getting angrier and angrier, spouting orders like a jack-booted general — orders we ended up ignoring, because they seemed to be based on builds, or gear, or abilities we didn’t have — which only seemed to make him more angry.

Finally, GWKE ragequits in the middle after saying something snide.
Us? We decided to keep going, to keep trying …
And we worked it out. We beat that Big Evil Boss, even short-handed, and without the self-styled “expert”, just by working as a team and learning from our wipes.
We had a big “Yay Us!!!” moment at the end — and a little “Screw you, Guy Who Didn’t Know Everything” moment as well :-)
Cheers,

definitely one of my favorite areas in the game. I was alone when I played it, late at night, and it genuinely freaked me out. not quite the beach house from Bloodlines, but close.

The Bogey Man encounter was epic. I think it took me about 30 attempts and 3 different builds to beat him. One of the most satisfying wins of all time in gaming.

melissamcdon TSW is the kind of game where it seems like a static group or a good cabal is essential for decent dungeon experiences.  Not that pugs are always bad, but if you are looking to learn the content and the harder fights, they are shaky prospects at best.
