Gloria Victis upgrades to Unity 5 engine

Forget what you think you know of Gloria Victis’ looks, as the devs announced that they’ve switched up the game engine to Unity 5. This will improve not only the visuals (including the new trees as featured in the picture above) but client performance as well.

“What does it mean for you?” the team posted. “FPS growth, better movement fluency, performance improvement, and reduced hardware requirements while improving graphics quality.”

Other benefits of Unity 5 include better AI and collision checking. The upgrade is requiring the team to rework many systems, although it still has plans for the creation of a continent and a sailing system.

goldstariv Virfortis  Ah, but does that argument hold strong for an all PvE game? Not so, it’s gets labeled as boring and repetitive.
Well let me spell it out: You can make the most fantastic world in the industry and put as much heart and soul into it as you want, but if your mechanics revolve around allowing those with tons of hoarded loot picking off new players for teh lulz, as all PvP MMOs have ultimately become, then your game is nothing more than a death simulator, a boring, repetitive death simulator. You literally may as well be playing call of duty.

From what I can tell, this game is little more than DayZ with swords.

Icnoevil I feel the same way, and don’t really know why. My interest-meter tends to hit zero everytime i read about a Unity based game.
I think somebody needs to release a real gem of a game before i can loose that attitude.

I am very interested in this game! Is anyone currently in the pre-alpha for it? Can you talk about it a little bit?

An “upgrade” to unity is like claiming you improved the flavor of dog sh*t by adding sprinkles.

This is nowhere an official AL statement but I am Polish and GV is developed by Polish studio. The first thing I think of when seeing that title is extremely popular novel called ‘Gloria Victis’ wrote by Eliza Orzeszkowa. GV is in canon of Polish patriotic literature telling story about January Uprising. As I say that is a riddle yet to be solved but knowing Polish developers they like to put a small detail of their country somewhere in the process.

xBlackmagic20x Considering alpha: yes, it is good. It is a promising indie game.
