Wurm launches new Elevation server

Fixing problems, sure.

The first iteration of Wurm Online‘s Elevation server had a problem according to the players: the map. People just did not like that map. So rather than telling people to simply get used to it, the designers nodded, took down the server, and spun together a new map consisting of five larger landmasses and a number of smaller islands.

Reactions to the new map? Far more positive! So the server is planned to go back online today using the new map design. The preview of the new map shown on the official site does not feature starter towns or similar points of interest; players looking forward to the new server should keep their eyes peeled for an updated version of the image in the near future.

Ghostmourn If you are having trouble /tell milosanx ingame or just ask question in the kingdom chat, people are very helpful. To start with it is a good idea to join a village, unless you have researched the game really well before hand.

cald Animation are better than they use to be. So many textures are getting reworked all the time. But in the end Gameplay is much more important than looks. I honestly thing wurm looks great. It has a realistic scale to and it’s very immersive, more so than any game I’ve played.

Mezla The good news about epic servers like Elevation here, they have ridiculous multipliers on skill gains.

Its still slow, but you can get ramped up fairly quickly compared to the traditional servers.

For those that do not know Wurm, it should maybe be added that Elevation is one of the “isolated” PvP servers with no players on it. Most of Wurm’s servers are connected like a series of continents – with PvP on one of these major continents, but there are also some minor isolated shards for PvP players only.

Actually, the players had a problem with the old map they had before, and then also the ‘new’ map they were going to release, and after multiple outcries on the forums, the PR people finally took their opinions to the devs and they turned around and nicked a brand new map in right after that and didn’t exactly get an ‘opinion’ on it. We’ll see whether they actually do like it, or just hunker down and ‘bear with it’ like is the usual over here.

Source : I actually play this game currently, and read the forums regularly. Should’ve seen the massive public outcry in the last ‘news’ update over the Waterworld-esque type map they were GOING to release. After about 5 pages of gripes about it, they asked if it was OK to take more time to give them a new map, and then just ‘slipped’ a new map in…

ITPalg Ghostmourn +1 Definitely recommend the faction fight youtube tutorial videos to get you up to speed with the games systems. Also take a look at Milosanx’s youtube videos on Wurm. https://www.youtube.com/user/milosanMT

I’m definitely intrigued by this game and its style, however its learning curve is very big.  In addition, achieving extremely simple goals can take hours of in-game time.  I personally am not sure I can justify that kind of time.

twitch.tv/factionalfight (https://www.youtube.com/user/FactionalFight) does streams once a week. They usually have about 15 people watching. They used to have a website domain which they let go but you can still see their tutorial vids on YT.
