If you’ve downloaded Skyforge and then noticed your internet connection slowing to a crawl, you might want to read a Reddit thread posted yesterday concerning the free-to-play MMORPG’s downloader. It’s a peer-to-peer program, meaning that publisher My.com uses you and your bandwidth to seed its game installer for other users. This practice isn’t new in the game industry, of course, but it’s also on by default and not especially obvious, which can be problematic if your oligopoly ISP limits your monthly bandwidth (thanks Comcast!).
My.com has also chosen to make its software start automatically when you start Windows.
