Shroud of the Avatar pushes out Release 20 with 113 player-run towns

If you lived here, you'd be home by now.

Are you playing Shroud of the Avatar‘s latest release right now? Obviously not, you’re reading this article, but you could be playing it right now. It has a whole lot of player-run towns in it now, 113 new ones to be precise, and you could run around in every single one and get all the money for exploring them! Maybe. Probably not. But you could definitely explore all of the new towns.

Other new features with the latest release include dynamic lot placement, trolls (the creatures, not the forum-dwellers), and bookmaking systems. The latest community update also highlights a player-run site for roleplaying and player-made trailers, so it’s well worth a read even if you’ve been playing the latest patch and have been dutifully exploring the player-run towns.

@Eliot Lefebvre
The 113 towns that were pushed out in R20 are player owned not player run, there have been player run towns in the game for many months now. Player owned town owners are able to plan and layout the entire town using the dynamic lot placement tool unlike pre placed player run towns.

All housing inside a PoT will be wiped just like everything
else, the PoT location won’t be however as it’s hard coded into the game world.
There is going to be plenty opportunity to buy and place plots using in game
gold, permanent, persistent deed owners are a tiny proportion of players in the
grand scheme of things and many of them will already have a location inside
there guild PoT at launch and won’t even bother trying to place in an NPC town
during the land rush. It has been stated many times there will be plenty Lot
locations outside of PoT’s regardless of how you obtain your land deed.

disUserNameTake cromahr Oh I am sure there will be a wipe, but people keep their house deeds and store-bought items. So right after the wipe, once the servers are back online, there will be a mad rush for people to use their house deeds and place their houses etc. So even after the wipe, the amount of houses already owned won’t be any less.
And AFAIK, player owned towns won’t be part of the wipe.

disUserNameTake cromahr Not player owned towns.  They are a big part of the game world.

I was exploring player owned towns last night.  Blown away.  They are incredible.  I love how different each town is from another.  And they are HUGE.  I always thought their housing was cool, but now that I can see the big picture pretty amazing.

disUserNameTake I expect there will be multiple wipes before launch.

cromahr They’re not going to wipe the server for the real launch?  That’s a poor decision….

I definitely understand that they need the financing going in order to continue developing the game, but I really wonder how this will all work out when the game comes out eventually, new players join early on, and see all these player towns already existing, with tons of houses full of “limited time offer” items from this early access phase.
Didnt they even say that they didn’t expect that many requests for houses or towns? What happens when the game goes live and players new to the game join?
