Gamescom 2015: Defiance is getting new baddies, supreme weapons

13

The fourth and final Trion blurb from today’s Gamescom press release involves Defiance, the sci-fi shooter with Syfy transmedia synergy. An upcoming patch will introduce a new race of enemies, Trion says. These baddies inhabit Silicon Valley’s arkfalls and are called Shrill. They’re also “acidic,” whatever that means!

Defiance will also be getting supreme weapons, which are “a new higher tier of rarity which can be applied to all current and future weapons.”

squidgod2000 Doesn’t help that only way to upgrade your weapon to the new rarity tier is by gambling with arkforge, since so far they dont drop in events or open world. 1 arkforge for a 20% chance to upgrade a natural legendary weapon to supreme. 8800 arkforge for a 100% chance to upgrade to supreme. Unless you grind it out with a subscription, that’s around $200 worth of arkforge from the cash shop for the sure thing.

It’s all still on PTS, so we’re hoping for a bit of tweaking there…

I worked for a company once whose marketing guy sent out an email talking about synergy and how they were working on creating high impact content to get new clients. I wanted to punch myself in the face.

They’re also capping the amount of arkforge you’re allowed to earn per week–not including cash shop purchases.

hardy83 Pretty sure Tabula Rasa was the first ” action ” based mmorpg with these kind of spacy enemies.

blackparrot89 Nordavind While I don’t think they did it first. I loved Tabula Rasa’s base thing.

Enemies would fly in and attack the base, and if you couldn’t defend it, they would take it over, and not give it up until you fight for it back.
Inside, I believe, there could be vendors or quest givers.

I wish Rift had this. Where planar enemies could take over towns or quest hubs and you have to fight to get it back.

Defiance: Definitely still a game that exists.

Greaterdivinity That’s pretty much never going to happen until they focus solely on the PC version.
