The Daily Grind: Did anything from Gamescom excite you?

108

This year’s Gamescom was pretty interesting from my perspective, and even though I wasn’t able to go in person, I spent a decent amount of time reading up on the various reveals from last week. In terms of MMO industry stuff, the thing that impressed me the most was Star Citizen. Sure, I’ve been a fan of the game since it was announced, but I haven’t been following it all that closely in recent months because frankly I’m just burned out on pre-alpha stuff.

But Cloud Imperium’s presentation was polished and it showed me just enough multicrew and FPS stuff to whet my appetite for the next couple of module releases. What about you, MOP readers? Did anything from Gamescom excite you this year?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Touko ityere JohnT_NC coop was one of those 5. PS moddable will be seriously half-assed, compared with the idea implied originally. And despite been an original feature, not a stretch goal, will be just another victim of feature creep. And will come later, very later after the very late release, if ever. Another feature that was great and will suffer due the expanded scope. I already saw devs talking quietly about that, just as they did now, in the coop case.

In other words, stating that you are going to get the original game, but better, was not an accurate statement of Chris Roberts. He is pointing fingers to people in favor of a few, or even if its in favor of more or what is more sellable, still is a disrespect with customers. This is not a good practice.
One thing, is not pleasing everyone. Another is pointing the finger, because you actually promissed that and did not accomplish or come with same other feature in exchange, that has nothing to do with what was said and promoted in the past, in exchange of money. It depends of what you expect probably, I could be wrong, but I think that you and all others like you will end disappointed, if the PS is a deal break.

I am a Premium Beta backer, so all expansions I get for free… money well spent I think.
Used to play Elite on my Amiga 3000.. LOL…. so much fun…

Thornz theeknighthood Yeah I am really enjoying Elite this second time round, as you say right now it is lacking in depth but that will come with time and I am still really enjoying what is currently available.
Once Oculus Rift hopefully arrives in January (well the consumer version) it will bring both games to a whole new level of immersion as well.

I liked Warhammer Online, but it poofed.. hope Vermintide does well.
Vermintide video looks like something they showed like 8 years ago, but it went to vaporware.
Here is to hoping….

ED is fun, not as in depth as SC will be, but still fun I think.

I so want to go to a SC convention.
Never in my life have I been interested in a Game convention, once I saw SC I want to go now.

Yup, that SC show was well beyond anything ever seen for a sci-fi game.

Once SC is out, I say GOOD LUCK to anyone trying to best SC.

Ahhh good stuff for sure.
