Tip one, wear pants.

Playing well with others is important when you’re playing online games, and Skyforge is indeed an online game. Fortunately, a new round of tips from the developers is available for both new players and veterans alike, so you can find out all of the vital tips about how to group with other players. For example, the tips recommend that you actually play a tanking class if you want to tank!

Some of the tips are going to be fairly familiar to veterans, but others are unique to the game, and it’s useful to see the tips on eliminating enemy groups with the weakest foes dying first. Check out all of the tips to see if there’s anything you don’t yet know and would do well to learn, and go on to dazzle your group companions with your amazing skills.

Nordavind DaemonHardrod One of the groups I ran with had much higher prestige players. And I thought that was weird. I guess that’s how matchmaking works.

Pashgan Skyforge and its class system are a bit too innovative for both devs and players so nobody has a clue – how exactly it should work?
That’s a good way to put it. You can create a healer and barely touch the healer specific tree and instead go through the bigger global tree… and each step along the tree boosts your Prestige level. Do that too much and you end up with a character with say 10k prestige cueing for that level content, but with little to no actual class skills and talents to help. It makes matters worse when all but 3 of the games classes need to be unlocked via leveling through the global tree… so most folks would focus on that first to get the class they want to play in the first place.
And the game does nothing to warn you about inflating your Prestige levels in this way (or through the Order system) and to keep them all balanced. You can put you character in a really difficult spot if you’re not careful. And don’t forget you only get one character throughout the entire game…
I like Skyforge but you’re right… it needs some real work still.

DaemonHardrod It’s easy to find squads, especially the earlier ones with the addition of the scaling. Sometimes I run the earlier ones at 15k and end up with people below 1000 in my squad.

As for spamming, that it most likely for group adventures, which most often “require” tank and a support, and those are scarce. Also, some people want to have their 5 man group set before they start so they know with whom they are going to play.

Lheiah I’ve seen Slayers tank group adventures in Skyforge. Once we were 5 DDs, no support or tank.

Devs forgot the most useful tip: run “3man” dungeons solo.

Solo runs are much faster and usually more enjoyable: Skyforge and its class system are a bit too innovative for both devs and players so nobody has a clue – how exactly it should work? As result people queue with underdeveloped classes which barely output any damage, cannot tank, cannot support + often players don’t have a clue about class mechanics (combos) because they aren’t obvious and class development takes 2 weeks. In the end I have to carry whole group while the group itself do their “best” to add to difficulty as much as possible by agroind half of the dungeon, not releasing me from boss’ traps, intercepting healing globes, ruining secondary objectives, etc. Game is still very raw – yet even in this state I like it, a lot (and not only for its superb graphics and animations).

Never said premades disbanded after missions, only those done via the auto grouping tool for instances.
Prestige scaling doesnt fix the issue where you both have done all the quests up to a certain point, and you can continue to the next quest, but your friend cant because he is 100 prestige less than you. (means you have to waste a bunch of time grinding content you already did, just to get gear to break down, to upgrade your stuff for that extra 100+ prestige rating. Yay! fun!

As for friends getting removed, this is from my experience, and a few others who have also mentioned the bug in chat. My fiancee couldnt even add me to her friends list, the game cant find me by my name.

Im not bashing the gameplay of the game, or the graphics, or overall game in general. Im simply stating that the game is NOT nearly as group friendly as most other mmo’s out there, and it manages to be unfriendly because an absolutely ridiculous and unintunitive UI for grouping and friends, and system mechanics to back it up.

Having to Ungroup, just to go to a quest zone, to regroup again, is just 100% ridiculous for an online multiplayer game.

“For example, the tips recommend that you actually play a tanking class if you want to tank!”

I would like to point out that part of the reason they said this is because there is a bit of an epidemic in the game of people queuing for a dungeon as a tank, and then before the queue finds a group, they switch back to a dps role. Then the group is found and everyone is teleported in, and now everyone must stand around for 10 minutes trying to figure out which dps it was that queued as a tank so we can kick them. Their intention is to get into a group faster since there are fewer people willing to tank than dps, and they hope that one of the ones who did queue as dps will switch to tank for them.

The same thing happens for the support role. So, sometimes a group will teleport into a dungeon only to end up as 5 angry dps.

I think the article is giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they don’t understand how tanking works.

Have you neven played the game after the Aug. 21th patch?
Pre made groups do not auto disbam after missions.
There is prestige scaling now so u can play with ur friends at different lvls.
Last thing I’ve nvr had a friend go missing from my list.
Yes Skyforge has its issues…like their chat system rlly needs work.
But since CoH closed I’ve been all over looking for a game to pass some time and the way Skyforge has its instances and a petty fun PvP.
I’ll be playing it for awhile to come and will recommended it to anyone that asks.
