The Division’s launch night is plagued with server (and doorway) issues

This is my surprised face.

Did you expect The Division to have issues on launch night with its servers? No? Well then why not? Also, you would be wrong, as last night’s launch was accompanied with exactly the same server issues that come from every single MMO’s launch. Letting all of the players onto servers at the same time produced errors (Errors Romeo and Sierra, in this case), but UbiSoft allegedly had the servers back up and running by early morning. It remains to be seen how it will handle the launch rush this evening.

The server issues are news but not surprising news, but the door issue that the game is having is a bit less excusable. In short, the game’s doors are wide enough for one person to pass through, and players are already taking advantage of that with the game’s collision detection to set themselves up as impromptu gatekeepers. Fortunately, you can bypass these players by just continuing to push through them, but you’d think slightly widening a few doorways would have come up.

I think was 2 or 3 am est, I was able to play fine and got to run through the dark zones with npc’s pretty sure that was two fold one to see if the npc’s loading was too much on the servers or just to give the people who kept trying to log in something for trying to see the game… I was alt tabbing into another game the who time. still kinda annoyed the press was given the option to create faces, while the players had to random through the faces until they found something that sorta looks like they wanted it to look like. People should look at black desert online’s face system, as where people are happy with their avatar’s face… the pecs are the wrong shape no idea how they could mess that use and figure out the rest so well.

Sorenthaz Most of the people who are playing The Division are people who’s only MMO experience comes from playing Destiny.

Got back in late last night and have been playing all morning (it’s currently 10:20 am here), the queue had gone by about 9pm last night and I’ve had no connection issues whatsoever. Gotta say, I’m really enjoying it so far, and I’ve hardly touched the main missions, just been exploring and even did a little crafting – and I don’t do crafting!

“Allegedly”. Heh.

Romeo and other connectivity errors when the digital version went live went away after rebooting my Xbox five minutes after digital went live (sadly, am playing this on consoles due to none of my normal PC gang wanting to play). Played…well, a lot of hours (got to level 13) without any server issues.

Servers going offline to online or back and forth seem to often play havoc with the Xbox and PS4 that are 90% of the time solved by rebooting both. This is a general, game agnostic “quirk” of both consoles.

And, while I’ve seen posts about trolls and doors, I never encountered anyone doing so in any of my instances (the game is heavily, heavily, heavily instanced with a very small number of people per instance, so if you do run into a troll, join another one). And, outside of safe houses and the dark zone, you don’t see other players, so there just aren’t a whole lot of doors you’re going to have problems with in which you can’t just shoot the person in the butt, assuming you actually get an instance with someone with nothing better to do (and most of the safehouses have multiple entry points.

I had one crash. Game froze up while we were doing a party mission. Quit game and started back up without any issue (kept my spot in the party as well).

Ran into a server queue once. The bad: minimal info (no eta, etc). The good: was 150th in queue, and 20-30 seconds later, it went from 150 to loading me into the game.

We spent minimal time in the Dark Zone. Mainly because we’d like to unlock skills/talents/perks before getting serious about “pvp”. Our DZ instance wasn’t even remotely as “busy” as we experienced in beta, so presumably we’re not the only people largely ignoring the DZ until the pve is done.

I’m not sure how people are surprised by it anymore.
That said I had a pretty smooth night playing it for 4-6 hours once the servers came back up.

deekay_zero I’ll admit, I’m actually impressed that players formed an orderly queue. The “don’t cut” makes it even better.
