This week was all about E3, and for MMO players, it didn’t feature a whole lot of new titles. Oh, there was plenty of stuff going on for existing games, but brand-new titles? Those were fairly quiet. LawBreakers managed to make the biggest noise on the testing front, as the game is going into its first closed test this weekend; we had a chance to throw Andrew at the game for a hands-on impression.
And even during a quieter week, there were still things of note taking place. Observe:
- The upcoming sandbox title Dual Universe furnished the world with an alpha gameplay trailer while also showing off on the E3 show floor.
- Lifeless is a zombie game, which means a game with zombies rather than a game that’s kept going even though the life of it is gone. Seriously, it’s just entered early access. Complete with a new trailer, even! Could a zombie do that? Maybe.
- Are you a fan of digital card games but annoyed at how few of them include shadows right in the title? Perhaps you should take advantage of Shadowverse entering open beta this week.
- Speaking of games in early access, Gloria Victis just hit that stage of development. It seems to be doing all right for itself.
And of course we have the list of games in testing down below, just like we have every year for E3. Also not for E3. We always have a list, that’s the point. Did a game slip into a new testing phase without us noticing? Is a game supposedly in testing but now charging money? Let us know down in the comments!
As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
