Back, back, back in time.
PWE has rolled out two big pieces of news for Star Trek Online fans today.

First, the studio says it’s overhauling STO’s “All Lock Box Drop” event by replacing old lockboxes from missions with limited-time lockboxes it’s calling Infinity Lock Boxes. They’ll still require the same ol’ keys, but when opened, they’ll “include prizes from nearly all retired boxes in a single, massive prize table.”

“In order to help ensure that this massive number of prizes doesn’t place your desired prize too far out of reach, we are introducing an element of choice into the Infinity Lock Box,” PWE explains. “Most prize entries will reward the key-user with an Infinity Prize Pack for whichever prize entry they won. Infinity Prize Packs are bound to the person that won them, but offer an unrestricted choice as to which item they wish to have won. Once that choice is made, the item(s) rewarded will be unbound, and can be freely traded/sold/gifted to other players.”

Second, the launch trailer for Agents of Yesterday is here, heralding the arrival of the Original Series-themed expansion next week on July 6th.

“In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series, Agents of Yesterday invites players to embark on a journey through time and space as the Captain of an era-appropriate ship from the series that started it all. The expansion also brings all of the Star Trek timelines and universes together by sending players on a mission to the past to save the future as Temporal Agents. In addition, Agents of Yesterday introduces more than a dozen new starships and several new featured episodes, starring beloved characters from several different Star Trek series, including Chekov (Walter Koenig), Scotty (Chris Doohan), Admiral Leeta (Chase Masterson) and Agent Daniels (Matt Winston).”
