The bad news for No Man’s Sky fans is that the game took longer than expected to be finished and launch was delayed slightly. Some people do not take this minor inconvenience well. But the wait is nearly over, as developer Hello Games has officially gone gold with the title ahead of its August 9th launch date:
It's happened. No Man's Sky just went gold. I'm so incredibly proud of this tiny team. 4 years of emotions pic.twitter.com/YJoI6JVgxq

This all means that the finished version of the game is ready to be prepared for direct download, printed on physical discs, and otherwise sent out for its launch edition. It’s a major milestone for the game and the team, and it means you can be quite confident about that release date now. You can also listen to Spandau Ballet to commemorate the occasion, if you so desire.
